Dr. Sonja Kristiansen spoke to the Education Committee (Houston chapter) of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. About 20 members who are charged with reaching out to patients and physicians listened as Dr K talked about connecting patient communities, oncology professionals, and reproductive specialists to make pre-treatment fertility preservation a standard of oncology care. Judging from the larger-than-usual turnout and the many questions, including some from cancer survivors who did not have the opportunity to preserve their own fertility, Dr K is further convinced that this is a timely topic of great importance to cancer patients and their healthcare providers.
